Born to Royalty - new movie coming on July 19
BBC Worldwide announces BORN TO ROYLATY, an intimate look at what it means to be a child of the British Royal Family, coming to select theaters for a limited engagement starting July 19, 2013.
Born To Royalty tells the story of how heirs to the throne of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth are prepared for their ultimate role of Monarch. Friedrich Wilhelm of Lippe offers himself in place of Kaiser

Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Lippe is offering himself, and all the German princes as "substitutes for the ex-Kaiser." He has written to Wilhelm II's second son, Prince Eitel Friedrich:
"The humiliation which the enemy powers wish to inflict on the Prussian dynasty must be shared by all belonging to Princely German houses. I beg your Royal Highness that my person, too, be extradited instead of his Majesty, your royal father."
Prince Friedrich Wilhelm also offered an appeal to all the German royal houses.
"Germany, exhausted and defenseless, has granted to the enemy powers the satisfaction of revenging themselves on our Kaiser, whose possession they envied us not long ago. His humiliation also hits us. Are we standing aside while the Kaiser goes to Golgotha. That must not be.
"We German Princes who followed the Kaiser in peace and war must now stand in front of him and tell the enemy to take us instead. Let us show the enemy that German fidelity is still alive. We who were first to offer our lives on the battlefield must now sacrifice them for the Kaiser."

Henry pleads for brother
July 9, 1919
Prince Henry of Prussia, younger brother of former Kaiser Wilhelm II, has now spoken out in "aid of the dethroned war lord," reports the Associated Press. Henry is adding "his plea to that of others for abandonment by the Allies" who want to bring Wilhelm "to trial for his crimes against mankind."
Prince Henry has sent a telegram to his first cousin, King George V, "begging him to desist in the effort to extradite the former monarch, pledges himself to assist the King in bringing to light 'the truth regarding the war and its consequences.'"
Prince Henry also refers to a conversation he had had with King George in July 1914 before he returned to Berlin and was with the Emperor "until mobilization began."
"I can testify that the Kaiser and his counselors endeavored by every means to avert the war and disaster to mankind. I am ready to refute the calumnies regarding the German Kaiser, which have circulated for years in contradiction to all truth, and I place myself at your disposal in order to assist Your Majesty in bringing to light the truth regarding the war and its consequences," stated the Prince in his telegram.
Last December, Prince Henry addressed members of the Prussian royal house. He said he was forced to "recognize" his brother's abdication, he "considered himself personally attached" to Wilhelm "to the end of his life and would do everything to preserve him from harm."
On July 30, 1914, Prince Henry sent a telegram to King George, asking him to 'secure the neutrality of France and Russia," stating that "William (the German Emperor), being very uneasy, is doing his best to carry out the Czar's request to preserve peace."
King George replied to Henry, informing him that "the British government had done its best to get Russia and France to postpone further military preparations." He added that if Austria would be content with the "occupation of Belgrade and the neighboring Serbian territory as a pledge of Austria's claims against Serbia," the King said he would trust the Emperor to use his "great influence to persuade Austria" to accept the proposal.
It is understood that the telegrams from 1914 are 'conversations' that Henry refers to his recent telegram to King George.

Princess Katarina of Serbia, only daughter of the late Prince Tomislav and his first wife, the late Princess Margarita of Baden, is teaching etiquette classes in London.

Prince Friso was discharged from the Wellington Hospital (London) today.
Prince Friso remains in a state of minimal consciousness. While his health situation continues to be of concern, the Prince no longer needs hospital care. Over the coming months, all available options to provide him with the required long-term care and nursing - in the Netherlands or the United Kingdom - will be evaluated in consultation with experts.
Prince Friso will spend this summer with his family at Palace Huis te Bosch in The Hague, where a medical team - led by Prof. Jan van Gijn and Dr. Michael Kuiper - will be entrusted with his care. He arrived there today.
The Royal family wholeheartedly thanks the medical team of the Wellington hospital for their excellent and devoted care.

Friedrich, Prince of Waldeck und Pyrmont (1865-1946) succeeded his father as Prince in 1893. Two years later, he married Princess Bathildis of Schaumburg-Lippe. They had three sons: Josias (1896-1967), who succeeded his father, Max (1898-1981) and Prince Georg Wilhelm (1902-1971).
Josias embraced National Socialism with a rabid passion. He married in 1922 to Duchess Altburg of Oldenburg, daughter of the Duke of Oldenburg. Their son, Wittekind, is the present Prince of Waldeck und Pyrmont.
Max and Georg Wilhelm married sisters, Countesses Gustava and Ingeborg von Platen Hallermund.

Princess Anne (1906-1986) married her first cousin, Prince Amadeo, Duke of Apulia (1898-1942) at Naples on November 5, 1927. Amedeo succeeded his father as Duke of Aosta.
They had two daughters, Princess Margherita (1930) who married Archduke Robert of Austria, and Princess Maria Cristina (1933), the wife of Prince Casimiro of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

The Duke of Cambridge has died
The following bulletin was issued earlier today by the "medical gentlemen," according to The Times.
"The Duke of Cambridge was in a very exhausted state during the night, but His Royal Highness has rallied considerably this morning."
The Duke's sister, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Glocester arrived at Cambridge House at 8:30 in the morning to "learn the state of her Royal brother."
His Royal Highness Prince George "went from Cambridge House in the forenoon to Buckingham Palace, and had an interview with Her Majesty."
The Queen and Prince Albert visited Cambridge House in the "middle of the day and were received by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, accompanied by Prince George and Princess Mary." They "took leave of the Duchess of Cambridge": at about 1 p.m.
Due to the Duke of Cambridge's health, the Drawing Room, scheduled to be held by her Majesty on the 9th, and the State Ball at Buckingham Palace, on the 10th, were canceled.
The Duchess of Glocester (which is how Gloucester was spelled) returned to Cambridge House at 9:30 p.m. The Duke died ten minutes later.
The final bulletin was issued at 10 p.m.
"His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge, after passing a tranquil day, expired somewhat suddenly, and without at suffering, at 20 minutes before 10 o'clock."
Shortly after the Duke's death, his principal Equerry, Major Baron Knesebeck, traveled to Buckingham Palace "to announce the melancholy intelligence to the Queen and the Prince."
Prince Albert, accompanied by his Equerry in Waiting, was driven immediately to Cambridge House to "pay a visit of condolence" to the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George. He remained with them until 10:45, and then returned to Buckingham Palace. The Duchess of Glocester remained "some time longer with her afflicted relatives."
The Duke of Cambridge was in his 76th year. The Duke "took a prominent position in the support of charitable institutions." It was noted that he would "sacrifice none of his own dignity" when getting involved in the minutiae of the charities he supported.
In private life, the Duke was equally irreproachable; and, through many members of our Royal Family have earned and continued to deserve a great amount of popular esteem, yet the Prince must indeed be considered fortunate who leaves behind him a fairer reputation than the Duke of Cambridge."
The Duke of Cambridge is survived by his widow, Princess Augusta of Hesse-Cassel, and their three children, Prince George, who succeeds him as Duke of Cambridge, Augusta, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, and Princess Mary Adelaide. He is also survived by one grandson, Duke Adolphus Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, his brother, King Ernst August of Hanover, and his sister, Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester.

Buckingham Palace announced today that Zara Tindall, daughter of the Princess Royal, is expecting her first child in early 2014.
Zara is married to Mike Tindall, a rugby player. They were married in July 2011 at Edinburgh. This will be the third grandchild for the Princess Royal and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips, and the fourth great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh.
