The Prince and Princess of Waldeck und Pyrmont in 1902.  This photo may have been taken at the time of the baptism of the couple's third son, Prince Georg Wilhelm who was born at Arolsen on October 3, 1902.

Friedrich, Prince of Waldeck und Pyrmont (1865-1946) succeeded his father as Prince in 1893.  Two years later, he married Princess Bathildis of Schaumburg-Lippe.  They had three sons: Josias (1896-1967), who succeeded his father,  Max (1898-1981) and Prince Georg Wilhelm (1902-1971).

Josias embraced National Socialism with a rabid passion.  He married in 1922 to Duchess Altburg of Oldenburg, daughter of the Duke of Oldenburg.  Their son, Wittekind, is the present Prince of Waldeck und Pyrmont.

Max and Georg Wilhelm married sisters, Countesses Gustava and Ingeborg von Platen Hallermund.
