Nicholas and Alina-Maria de Roumanie were married earlier today at Biserica Sfantul Ilie at Sinaia according to the rites of the Romanian Orthodox ceremony. The officiant was Archbishop Calinic of Arges and Muscel. The couple's civil ceremony took place last October in Henley-on-Thames.
The only member of the Nicholas' family to attend the wedding was his younger sister, Karina.
Although the Duke of Vendome was expected to attend the wedding, he was not in the cathedral. It is understood that his wife, Philomena, is expecting a child in the not-too-distant future.
Princess Eleonore of Schaumburg-Lippe, the daughter of Prince Waldemar of Schaumburg-Lippe and his first wife, Anne-Lise Johansen, was the only royal guest.
The reception was held at the Casino Sinaia.
This was the first royal wedding in Sinaia since 1931 when Nicholas' great-great-aunt Princess Ileana of Romania married Archduke Anton of Austria.
The first two photos were taken by a friend of a friend of mine who was at the wedding.
It must be noted that the area around the cathedral and the Casino Sinaia were lined with people offering good wishes and a lot of cheers for the couple.

So was this considered a state event? A royal event? As the only male in the direct line ( or only male grandchild of the late King Michael) what is the status of Nicholas? Why did no family attend?
Not a state event, not a royal event. Nicholas is not the only male grandchild of the late King Michael. Irina has a son, Michael, but Irina and her kids are excluded from the succession.

The only member of the family who attended was his sister Karina. He is estranged from his mother and aunt.
