Empress Carlotta has the grippe
January 21, 1921
Former Empress Carlotta of Mexico, widow of the "ill-fated" Archduke Maximilian of Austria, whose "brief career as Emperor of Mexico was ended by his execution in 1867, is suffering from the grippe, according to a New York Times dispatch from Brussels.
The former Empress, born Princess Charlotte of Belgium, is the aunt of King Albert. She is said to be "seriously ill." Because of her "advanced age," her health is causing "much anxiety."
