Dressing Downton at the Virginia Historical Society

It was an early and long day today.  I was up at 5:30 a.m., as I needed to catch a train from Alexandria to Richmond.  The train was scheduled to leave at 7:18 a.m,. but was 40 minutes late.   Caught a cab at the restored Main Street Station to the Virginia Historical Society as public transit is largely non-existent on weekends in Virginia's capital.

I spent more than hour in the exhibit, which features costumes from the first four seasons of Downton Abbey.  Photography without flash was permitted, so my photographs are okay.  The detail of some of the the women's gowns were breathtaking.  Sadly, Lady Mary's wedding gown was not on display, nor any gown worn by Isabel Crawley.

The exhibit will be on display in Richmond until January 10, 2016.  The cost is $20.00  http://www.vahistorical.org/what-you-can-see/dressing-downton   The exhibition travels to Chicago after Richmond.

Thanks for the positive review, Marlene! I live in Richmond, but have been on the fence about the exhibit because of the price. Sounds like it's worth it, though.
