November 30, 1962
Princess Alexandra of Kent is to marry the Hon. Angus James Bruce Ogilvy, second son of the Earl and Countess of Airlie, according to the official announcement made earlier today.
The Princess, 12th in line to the throne, will celebrate her 26th birthday on Christmas Day. She is the daughter of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, and the late Duke of Kent. Her older brother, Prince Edward is now the Duke of Kent.
Mr. Ogilvy is 34 years old. According to the New York Times, he "holds directorships in several large companies."
His family has been "closely associated with the royal family for many years." Lord Airlie is the Lord Chamberlain to Queen Elizabeth II and also to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
Princess Alexandra and Mr. Ogilvy have known each other for eight years. The date and place of the wedding was not announced.
