The New York Times reports today that Greek monarchists are anxious about the reports of the divorce of former Queen Elizabeth and King George. The news may "unfavorably influence the peasantry, the backbone of the restoration."
Monarchists are "trying to explain that the royal couple's disagreement was of long standing," and that the former King is "overjoyed with his release." They also say he is about to announce his engagement to a "Princess of royal blood, reportedly of French ancestry."
It is "rumored the marriage contract has already been signed."
