Airplane scare for the Duke of Kent

July 14, 1939

The Duke of Kent had a "few anxious moments" earlier today when a plane in which he was a passenger skidded on a bog patch," according to the Associated Press.  The plane was attempting to takeoff from the Dyce airdrom in Scotland.

The plane "spun around", and a propeller was damaged.  The Duke, who is a younger brother of King George VI,  emerged from the plane, smiling.  He completed his journey by plane.

Very eerie, given the Duke's ultimate fate.
