Previously unseen portrait of Victoria: I do not think so
The Telegraph has a story today about a previously unseen Winterhalter painting of a young Queen Victoria, painted in 1843.
This portrait, I believe, has been published in several books, and may have been a jacket cover as well. In fact, the Winterhalter portrait has been seen numerous times.

what a crock...this is not previously unseen...have seen it several times and yes there was a book cover with the image!
I have that picture saved on my computer from google images. I found it years ago but did not know the story behind it. It has been published in several books and all over the internet.
Indeed, it's the cover of Stanley Weintraub's excellent biography. It's a lovely portrait--most Winterhalters are. Maybe they mean that the painting itself (rather than images of the painting) has not been seen in public? As a PR person myself, it's the kind of headline I might write for an exhibition. . .
