Royal guests begin to arrive for Wilhelmina's wedding

February 4, 1901

"Numerous royal personages" have begun to arrive in The Hague for the wedding of Queen Wilhelmina and Duke Henry of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The Queen, who was accompanied by her fiance and by her mother, Queen Emma, was at the train station to welcome Grand Duke Wladimir of Russia and two of his children, Grand Duchess Helen and Grand Duke Boris.
Wilhelmina was "warmly cheered as she drove through the streets." Other guests who have already arrived include Princess Louise of Wied, the Hereditary Prince and Princess of Wied, and the Prince and Princess of Bentheim-Steinfurt.
Wilhelmina and Duke Henry have received the Roumanian Grand Cross of the Order of the Star and Duke Henry has also received the Swedish Seraphim Order.
The Hague is full of visitors, and the city is "en fete." Many of the streets "are impassable."
