It's over for Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece & Hon Peregrine Pearson

The rumors of a broken relationship began to surface even before the Hon. Peregrine Pearson was conspicuously absent from Princess Maria Olympia of Greece's 27th birthday party in July.  

Richard Eden, the Daily Mail's gossip columnist, confirms that the couple has "split up," and have not been seen together since last November, when they attended Diet Coke's 40th anniversary gala hosted by Kate Moss.

Peregrine,28, is the son and heir to the 4th Viscount Cowdray, who recently separated from his wife.   Princess Olympia is the eldest child and only daughter of Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie Chantal of Greece.  She is a goddaughter of King Charles III.

Eden reports that Princess Olympia, who is a model, "unfollowed" Perry on Instagram and "deleted all traces of him on her Instagram account.   According to Eden, the couple "grew apart," although "their friends and family were hoping their union would lead to marriage, but it wasn't meant to be."

100th anniversary of the birth of King Peter II

100th ANNIVERSARY OF KING PETER II BIRTH AT OPLENAC

Oplenac, 6 September 2023 – On the day 100 years ago HM King Peter II was born, TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine went to Oplenac to pay their respect to His Royal Highness’ father. This was the first in a series of activities that will honour this important jubilee of the Royal family of Serbia.

The memorial service for the late King in the Mausoleum of the Royal Family, Saint George’s Church in Oplenac was officiated by His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija. The solemn church ceremony was also attended by members of the Crown Council, Mr. Predrag Markovic, Prof. Dr. Cedomir Antic, and Mr. Darko Spasic, members of the Kingdom of Serbia Association, which is under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Alexander, and representatives of King Peter I Foundation in Oplenac. After the service, HRH Crown Prince Alexander laid a wreath on the tomb of his late father.

To remember King Peter II one century after his birth this evening the exhibition “The Centennial of King Peter II Birth - The Link Between Past and Present” will be officially opened at the Royal Palace. At the same time, a promotion of an exclusive “Rulers of Serbia” edition, jubilee postal stamps dedicated to the 100th anniversary of King Peter II and the 200th anniversary of Prince Mihailo Obrenovic’s birth will be held at the Palace.

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Ilarion of Timok, a regimental flag of the Timok Brigade of the Yugoslav Army in Homeland, which was only recently found after more than seven decades of hiding, was brought to Crown Prince in Oplenac, in order to be part of the exhibition in the Palace. The flag has a beautiful monogram of King Peter II and traditional words of soldiers’ oath from the time of the Kingdom: “With faith in God, for King and the Homeland”. 

In the following days, HRH Crown Prince Alexander and his Foundation for Education and Culture will present copies of King Peter II Memoires to the National Library of Serbia. Also, tours of the Royal Complex and exhibition will be organized for the best students of 7th and 8th grade of Belgrade elementary schools which bear the name of Karadjordjeviic dynasty members – Karadjordje, King Peter I, Queen Maria, and King Peter II schools.

“I am always emotional on this day, the very day when in 1923 my beloved father, HM King Peter II was born. His fate after the whirlwind of World War II is well known, he remained in involuntary exile for the rest of his life. My father's heart was filled with nostalgia for his homeland, every day he hoped to return to his people.

My heart is calmer since his earthly remains were transferred in 2013 to Oplenac, to the Royal Family’s Mausoleum, where now he can finally rest in peace, in his beloved Serbia. I fulfilled one of his last vows that he gave me, to bring him back to the homeland, even if dead. Dear father, you will always be in my prayers and in my heart”, said HRH Crown Prince Alexander. 

 

 

Biography of HM King Peter II

HM King Peter II of Yugoslavia was the firstborn son of King Alexander I and Queen Maria of Yugoslavia. King Peter II was born in Belgrade on 6 September 1923, and his Godfather was King George V of England. After his father’s assassination in 1934, he became the King of Yugoslavia, but since he was only 11 years old, a regency was formed.

After the 27th of March Coup, when the people of Yugoslavia rejected the treaty which the Government signed with Nazi Germany, King Peter II was proclaimed of age. The Yugoslav Army was unprepared to resist the ensuing invasion by Nazi Germany and Yugoslavia was occupied within eleven days. King Peter II was forced to leave the country and he joined other monarchs and leaders of German-occupied Europe in London in June 1941. There King Peter was regarded by the people of Yugoslavia as the symbol of resistance against Nazism and worked hard on getting the Allies' support for the fight of the people of Yugoslavia against occupying forces.

After the war, the nondemocratic communist regime forbade the return of the Royal family to Yugoslavia, removed citizenship, and confiscated their entire private property. King Peter II never abdicated.

The King spent the last years of his life in America. He died on 3 November 1970 in Denver Hospital Colorado, and he was buried at the St. Sava Monastery Church in Libertyville Illinois. He was the only king buried in the United States. 

The King’s remains were transferred to Royal Palace Chapel in Belgrade on 22 January 2013 and a State Funeral took place on 26 May 2013 at the Royal Family Mausoleum of St. George in Oplenac, Serbia where His Majesty joined other members of The Royal Family interned the Royal Mausoleum.

Queen Marie of Yugoslavia gave birth to a son at 3 a.m., this morning, reports the New York Times.

The "joyful event" was marked by a "salute of 101 guns and the pealing of the Cathedral bells."

King Alexander issued a proclamation declaring the infant Prince as "heir to the throne."   The birth will be celebrated with "great joy throughout the country," as it settles the question of "direct succession in the Karageorgevitch dynasty."

This is the first child for King Alexander and Queen Marie, who is the second daughter of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie of Romania.  

The couple were married at Belgrade on June 8, 1922.   The queen is 22 years old, and her husband is ten years her senior.

Marie's older sister, Elisabeth, is the wife of King George II of the Hellenes.

This is the second grandchild for the Queen Marie of Romania.   In October 1921, Crown Princess Helen, the wife of Crown Prince Carol, gave birth to a son, Michael.

Queen Marie is said to be in "the best of health," and the unnamed infant prince is also doing well.

Joachim of Denmark: A New Prince in Town

 Prince Joachim of Denmark and his family have made a move from Paris to Washington, D.C., where he started his new job as Defense Attache at the Danish Embassy on September 1st.  He held the same position for four years at the Danish Embassy in Paris.

His first day on the job coincided with the arrival of the new Danish Ambassador Jesper Moller Sorenson.

The prince met with the Danish press at the embassy, discussing his new job.

"It's not easy to change continents.  Paris was our second home, and Europe is Europe.  We know that.  It's something completely different."  Joachim acknowledged he and his family had "some difficulties and we have a lot to do to settle in."

Prince Joachim and his wife, Princess Marie, have two young children, Count Henrik 14, and eleven-year-old Countess Athena de Monpezat.  He said: "The children started school on Monday (August 28) and they are delighted and have already made new friends."

The prince did not identify the name of the school where the two children are attending, but it can be assumed that they are enrolled in a private school.

This is not the first time that Princess Marie has lived in the United States. She studied international business and economics at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and later earned a BA from Marymount Manhattan College.

 In Paris, Marie worked as a cultural representative for the Embassy, but it is not known if she will have a similar position at the Danish Embassy in Washington.

The Director DI Defence and Security Industries Association, Joachim Finkielman, has only positive vibes about Prince Joachim's appointment.  He said: "Prince Joachim is in a three-in-one solution.  He is an extremely competent diplomat, who through his training and military rank, has a broad knowledge of defense.  At the same time, his cultural background is crucial when it is about creating networks and opening doors."

The announcement that Joachim would move to Washington was made in March.  "As Denmark's representative in the years to come, the prince will help strengthen defense cooperation with the United States and Canada."

Today, the temperature in the D.C. area will soar to 100 F.  Sweltering.    The Nationals are playing tonight at Nationals Park ... an excellent time for the Prince and Princess to take in a game with their kids!!!   I could sit next to them and explain the game !!!

A third child for Prince Amedeo and Princess Elisabetta of Belgium

Prince Amedeo and Princess Elisabetta of Belgium are the parents of a third child and second daughter.  Archduchess Alix of Austria-Este was born in Brussels on September 2.  She weighed 7.5lbs.

Prince Amedeo, the eldest child of Princess Astrid of Belgium and Archduke Lorenz of Austria Este married Elisabetta "Lili" Rosboch von Wolkenstein on July 5, 2014.   Their first child,  Archduchess Anna Astrid was born on May 17, 2016.   Three years later on September 16, 2019,  Princess Elisabetta gave birth to a son, Archduke Maximilian.

This is the third grandchild of Princess Astrid, the second child of King Albert II,  and Prince Lorenz.   On November 10, 1995, Lorenz was created a Prince of Belgium by King Albert II.

Duchess Amelie of Württemberg marries Baron Franz Ferdinand von Feilitzsch

HRH Duchess Amelie of Württemberg, 27, and Baron Franz Ferdinand von Feilitzsch, 25, were married in a Roman Catholic service at St Michael's Church at Schloss Altshausen.   The bride is the daughter of the late Hereditary Duke Friedrich of Württemberg and Princess Marie of Wied.  

The couple's civil wedding took place on May 20 at Schloss Friedrichshafen.

The bride was given away by her brother, Wilhelm, Duke of Württemberg.  Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, a close friend of the bride's mother, was among the 380 guests, which included members of the bride and groom's families the Prince and Princess of Waldburg-Zeil with their daughters, Count and Countess Bernard de Monseignat (Countess Marie Gabriel of Waldburg-Zeil, Archduke Simeon and Archduchess Maria of Austria, Count  Ulich Goess Enzensberg, Countess Leonie von Waldburg Zeil Hohenems and Count Caspar von Matuschka, Count and Countess Stephan von Neipperg,  Count von Drechsel, Prince Philipp-Carl zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Wallerstein,  the Hereditary Count of Waldburg Wolfegg, Count and Countess zu Königsegg-Aulendorf and their son, Hereditary Count Philipp, Countess Antoinette von Schaesberg,  the Margrave and Margravine of Baden, Prince and Princess Michael of Baden and Prince Leopold of Baden and his girlfriend, Princess Chantal of France and Baron François Xavier de Sambucy de Sorgue Duchess Elisabeth of Bavaria and Daniel Ternberger, the Hereditary Prince Reuss, Prince Aloys of Hohenzollern and Prince Boris of Bulgaria.

The flower girls and pages were Olympia d’Andigné (daughter of Duchess Sophie of Württemberg), Annabelle and Emil Turi (the groom's niece and nephew) Charlotte Creutz daughter of Princess Maria Annunziata of Bourbon-Two-Sicilies), Florentin, and Konstantin and Antonius Schlüter , who are the children of Jan Schlüter and his wife, Maria Anna Dichgans who is the daughter of Joseph Dichgans and Countess Eleonore von Waldburg-Zeil.

Maria Anna's brother, Father Wolfgang Dichgans, was one of the officiants at the wedding.

The witnesses included the bride's sister. Duchess Dorothée of Württemberg and Countess Marie-Gabriele of Waldburg-Zeil.

 The bride wore the Württemberg Diamond tiara and her mother's wedding gown, which was designed by Jacques Faith in 1993. The gown was adapted by Munich designer Ursula Vogt-Ettrich.   The page boys and flower girls were dressed in the same outfits worn by Princess Marie of Wied when she married Hereditary Duke Friedrich of Württemberg in 1993.   

Baron Franz Ferdinand, however, wore a traditional suit, rather than his recently registered personal tartan with the Scottish Register of Tartans.  The "design was commissioned on behalf of Franz Ferdinand von Feilitzsch and his family." The design was "inspired by his time studying at the University of St. Andrews and includes the family colors."

Duchess Amelie is a concert violinist, and she also teaches violin to young people.  She is also training to become a piano teacher.   Baron Franz Ferdinand is the managing director of the family business in Feilitzsch.  

The couple will spend their month-long honeymoon in Africa after which they will reside in Schloss Hänselstein in Felitzsch.

Viola Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga and her husband, violinist Charlie Siem, are expecting their first child.  This will be the second grandchild of Princess Bianca of Savoy-Aosta and Count Giberto Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga.   Viola's younger sister, Vera, and husband, Briano dei Conti Martinoni Caleppio became the parents of a son, Dardo who was born on June 5 in Milan.

Viola and Charlie Siem were married on April 22, 2023.

Another Countly engagement

 Just a few days ago, I reported the engagement of Countess Hemma von Khevenhüller-Metsch and Count Vincent von Matuschka.  And now the family is celebrating another engagement as Hemma's first cousin, Count Franz Christoph recently popped the question to the Belgian Countess Tatiana de Liedekerke.

Count Maria Franz Christoph Karl is the second of four children of Count Maria Karl Maximilian Georg Hubertus von Khevenhüller-Metsch and Leila Gailly de Taurines.  He was born in Mistelbach on March 26, 1995. 

Franz Christoph received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Hult International Business School,  in Cambridge, Mass., in August 2020.  He is a Business Development Executive at Darktrace, a British cybersecurity firm.

Countess Tatiana is the second of three children of Count Michel de Liedekerke and his first wife, Countess Irina Christiana Maria zu Stolberg-Stolberg, the youngest of three children of Count Wilhelm zu Stolberg-Stolberg and Princess Irene von Isenberg-Birstein.  She was born in Brussels on September 15, 1997. She and her siblings were raised in London, where her father works in finance. Count Michel is a Director of Clerville Investment Management Ltd.  

Irina's older sister, Countess Isabel-Juliana is the wife of Léopold, 13th Duke of Arenberg..  

She attended UCL, earning a BA in International Relations and German and spent a year abroad in Berlin, studying social sciences and German at Humboldt University.  

In September 2022, she received a Master of Science in Climate Change, Management and Finance from the Imperial College Business School.  She is an Associate Consultant for Climate Change and Carbon Markets at Hamerkop Climate Impacts Ltd.

She graduated from Ampleforth College, a Roman Catholic boarding school in England.

According to her company profile, Tatiana's "interests lie in scaling carbon finance to enable mitigation projects that also improve the resilience of vulnerable communities and ecosystems."

She is fluent in English, French, and German, and has "volunteered in a refugee camp in Calais and a homeless housing organization."

Archduke Josef Albrecht marries Countess Sophie

 

Archduke Josef Albrecht of Austria and Countess Sophie von Schaesberg were married on August 26, 2023, at St. Johannes Baptist church in Sünching Bavaria

More than five hundred guests attended the "big. colorful family celebration," Countess Sophie, wearing a wedding gown designed by Lorenzo Capile, and her father arrived at church in a carriage shortly before noon.  The wedding ceremony took just over an hour, and at 1:12 p.m. Josef Albrecht and Sophie emerged from the church as husband and wife.   

The couple with their family and guests walked several hundred feet from the church to Sünching Castle for the reception. Sophie's maternal grandfather owns the castle, which he inherited from his grandmother, Countess Seinsheim in 1958.   He lives in the castle with his wife and daughter, Antoinette.

Josef Albrecht, 29, and Sophie, 25, met at a birthday party in Portugal in 2019.  He proposed to Sophie in late 2021 at a Pittsburgh Steelers- Chicago Bears football game.  The Archduke used to play American football.

The bride was given away by her father, Johannes, Count von Schaesberg.  Her sister, Countess Marie-Dorothee von Schaesberg, and Archduke Josef Albrecht's brother Archduke Paul, were the witnesses to the wedding.

Sophie's mother, Baroness Antoinette von Hoenning-O'Carroll, and the Count of Schaesberg are divorced.  Their marriage was annulled in 2011.   Archduke Josef Albrecht is the eldest son of Archduke Josef Karl of Austria and Princess Margarete of Hohenberg.

The couple will be spending their honeymoon in the United States.  Afterward, they will divide their time between Schloss Sünching and Budapest, where the Archduke works in commodities trade.  Sophie recently completed a computer science degree in Madrid and has plans to work in IT.
