King Charles III was presented with the Honours of Scotland - the Crown, the Sceptre, and the Elizabeth Sword --at the National Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.

The King and Queen were accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.  No other members of the Royal Family were present, although the Princess Royal joined the King and Queen and the Duke and Duchess at Holyrood House to watch the flyover by the Red Arrows.

The Crown, which was made in 1540 for King James V of Scotland, was carried by the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, the Hereditary Bearer of the Crown of Scotland.  The Duke of Hamilton is the senior duke in the Peerage of Scotland.   The Duke is also the Hereditary Keeper of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
