News and commentary about the reigning royal houses of the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Spain, Monaco -- and the former European monarchies as well.
A wonderful and unexpectedly early decision. It has been an emotionally charged couple of days and this has been a lovely glimmer of hope for the future. God Save the King.
It was a wise move by Charles to immediately demarcate the Prince of Wales title & role from himself and bestow it upon Prince William. William and Catherine will be brilliant in their new roles, this I have no doubt. William will also be a dearly-held bridge for those who still hold a strong affinity for Diana. (It also helps William so closely resembles his mother in his looks.) If one were to believe in a hereafter, I believe Diana would have given this new pronouncement her blessing.
Because he is a grandchild in the male line which makes him royal -- courtesy titles are used for nonroyal male line - if heir to a peerage. The Duke of Kent is a grandson of the sovereign in the male line. He is HRH and a prince. His son is a great-grandson in the male line. he is styled as earl of St. Andrews.
Charles was indeed created Prince of Wales by Letters Patent and published at the Gazette. I also thought about it when William began to use the title. I suposse the LP were issued and signed yesterday and will be published soon.

Do you think they'll stay at Adelaide Cottage now as POW?
Shouldn't one wait until Letters Patent have been issued?
Curious: Why isn't George known by one of William's subsidiary titles? And, any sense of when/if Charles might bestow Duke of Edinburgh on Edward?

Thank you for the clarification, Marlene.
