As the world celebrates the birth of the third child to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, it must be noted that the new baby is the second royal child born on April 23 at the Lindo Wing, St. Mary's Paddington

Princess Michael of Kent, the wife of the Queen's first cousin, gave birth to her second child, Lady Gabriella Marina Alexandra Ophelia Windsor, on April 23, 1981 at the Lindo Wing.   Ella's fourth name honored William Shakespeare, who was born on April 23.


Lady Ella, a freelance writer, has a degree in comparative literature from Brown University in Rhode Island.  In 2011, she began a Ph.D program at Oxford University.
