The wedding of Prince Philip and Princess Danica of Serbia took place earlier today at the Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Belgrade.

The bride, wearing a gown designed by Roksanda Illinic, was escorted into the Cathedral by her father, noted Serbian artist Cile Markinovic.   Prince Philip was accompanied by his mother, Princess Maria da Gloria of Orleans-Braganza, Duchess of Segorbe.

Princess Danica did not wear a tiara for the religious wedding.  There will be a gala dinner tonight at the White Palace.

Crown Prince Alexander accompanied Queen Sofia of Spain.   Crown Princess Victoria was also a guest at the wedding, joining Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Peter, the groom's older brother, were the witnesses.

This was the first royal wedding in Belgrade since 1923 when  Prince Paul married Princess Olga of Greece and Denmark.

I didn't realize the Serbian Royal Family had a close relationship with the Swedish RF. Is this of long standing?

Yes it is.

She looks beautiful, but her dress is more conservative than I expected, considering how trendy she dresses on her social media accounts. Is that because of the church they were married in and/or their religion?

They were married in a Serbian Orthodox church. You will not see strapless gowns in such a church.

I wonder what guests attended the wedding. I was there and saw a woman that looked like Donatella Versace. Was it her?

If you read all of my stories you will see references to royal guests ... no that was not Donatella. A few royals, most family and friends
