Kaiser's grandson marries his stepdaughter

October 1, 1940

Prince Karl Franz Josef of Prussia, a grandson of former Kaiser Wilhelm II, and Princess Henriette of Schoenaich-Carolath were married today at House Doorn,  Wilhelm's residence in the Netherlands, reports the Associated Press.

The civil ceremony was performed by the mayor of Doorn in "the presence" of Wilhelm, his second wife, Hermine  and a few guests.

The bride, 22, is the youngest daughter of Princess Hermine and her late husband, Prince Johann-Georg of Schonaich-Carolath.

Prince Karl Franz Josef is 24 years old and the only child of the late Prince Joachim of Prussia, and Princess Marie Auguste of Anhalt.

The prince was recently awarded the Iron Cross.   The couple will leave tomorrow for Berlin, where they will be married in a Lutheran church.
