Italian newspapers see the recent visit of Crown Prince Carol of Romania to Italy and the "arrival in Rome today of Queen Marie" as "indicating a closer union between Italy and Romania," reports the New York Times.
These, "taken in connection with the recent Italo-Yugoslav agreement" is seen as Italy gaining influence over the "Little Entente," especially in the Balkans.
Several newspapers are predicting a marriage between Crown Prince Umberto, heir to the Italian throne, and Princess Ileana, youngest daughter of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie.
