British royals riding high

Interesting article.  However, the writer gets it wrong: Charles cannot surrender his claim to the throne.  Only an act of Parliament can change the succession.  Edward VIII was able to abdicate only after Parliament passed an act of Abdication.

The tabs here - Globe and National Enquirer - are pushing the meme that the Queen "can choose to bypass Charles and make sure the crown goes to William", which is not true.

Wouldn't she have to have approval from her government AND the Commonwealth to do so?

the queen has no say in her successor .. the succession is defined in law (the Act of Settlement). Only ... I repeat .. only Parliament can change the succession. Period.
