There appears to be a "prospect of a marriage" between Princess Victoria, second daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and Hereditary Grand Duke Wilhelm, the only son of Grand Duke Adolphe of Luxembourg, reports the New York Times.  The report is based on an article in the London paper, The Truth.

Princess Victoria was born July 6, 1868.  Hereditary Grand Duke Wilhelm was born on April 22, 1852.   He serves as a Major General in the Austrian army and is heir to "enormous estates in Germany and Austria.  He is already in possession of a large fortune.

Although the Grand Duke and the Hereditary Grand Duke are Lutheran, the majority of Luxembourg's citizens profess the Roman Catholic faith.   Luxembourgers have assumed that the Hereditary Grand Duke would marry a Roman Catholic princess and raise their children as Catholics.

But residents might also be pleased with their heir marrying a British princess whose father is the heir apparent.

Princess Victoria is with her family in Cap Martin, France,  Her older brother, Prince George, is said to be suffering from insomnia while her younger sister, Princess Maud is recovering from synovitis, which she had suffered from before she left England.

The Prince and Princess of Wales and three of their children are in France as they continue to mourn the loss of the Prince and Princess' elder son, Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale, who died in January at the age of 28.
