It was reported earlier today that Count Carl Johan Bernadotte af Wisborg, who is better known as Count Jan Bernadotte, was married today at the Hyltinge Church in Stjärnhov, Sweden, a teacher, 53-year-old Gunilla Stenfors.
Count Jan, who will celebrate his 70th birthday tomorrow, is the eldest son of the late Count Lennart Bernadotte af Wisborg and his first wife, Karin Nissvandt. Lennart, who was born HRH Prince Lennart of Sweden, lost his royal titles and his right of succession, when he married a Swedish commoner.
Jan and Gunilla were married in Sweden, and, according to the Swedish civil authorities, he was divorced from his second wife in 1970. Jan's third, fourth, fifth and sixth marriages took place outside Sweden. Christiane Grandmontagne, Jan's sixth wife, said recently that she and Jan were separated, but not divorced.
Does this mean that Jan's marriage to the teacher from Flens is not valid if, in fact, Christiane is correct in her assessment of her marriage.
Wasn't Christiane Grandmontagne involved with a Prussian prince at one time?
ReplyDeleteyes, she was involved with Christian Sigismund, youngest son of Louis Ferdinand .. there were plans to marry, but she was seen to be unequal .. she had his child out of wedlock.
ReplyDeleteAs the wedding was postponed, count Jan is not a bigamist. Just a few days before the wedding Jan got some papers from France that showed he wasn't divorced from Christiane Grandmontagne. But as soon as the divorce papers are signed, the wedding will take place in the same church.
ReplyDeleteOf course not, but he knew several WEEKS before the wedding, as did Gunilla because a friend of mine talked to both of them.
