Hereditary Prince Heinrich Donatus of Schaumburg-Lippe has confirmed he is engaged to marry American businesswoman Emily Liu. He told Bunte: "We are getting married."
The 32-year-old prince is the only child of HSH Alexander, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe, and his first wife, Princess Marie Louise "Lily" of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg.
"The two are a perfect match. We welcome Emily with open arms and are delighted for them both," Prince Alexander told the BILD newspaper.
Donatus, known as "Teddy," proposed to Emily in April during a hike in nature. For three years, they maintained a "long-distance relationship" between San Francisco and Schloss Bückeburg. Miss Liu recently moved into Schloss Bückeburg, as the wedding will take place in Germany.
The young prince is a graduate of the British military academy, Sandhurst, where he was commissioned into the Household Cavalry Life Guards. He is active in the international "startup and venture capital scene" and is involved with The Embassy, a platform in San Francisco "for European founders seeking to expand into the US market."
Miss Liu is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants. She was raised in Connecticut, and then settled in San Francisco, where she co-founded HFO (Hacker Fellowship Zero), "a start-up accelerator that provides 12-week residencies for batches of fellows from 10 different start-ups."
