Earlier today, King Harald V of Norway was laid to rest in the Royal Mausoleum beneath the church in the Akershus Fortress. This followed a Lutheran funeral service at Oslo Cathedral. After returning to the Palace, King Haakon VIII, Queen Mette-Marit, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Prince Sverre Magnus, and Queen Sonja came out on the balcony. They then held a reception, where the King and his family greeted their guests.

Queen Mette-Marit, who recently underwent lung replacement surgery, did not attend the reception.
