Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested
The Thames Valley Police have given Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor an arrest warrant for his 66th birthday.
Not wishing to split hairs, but no "arrest warrant" has been issued. A warrant for arrest in the UK is issued by a Court, normally for failure to attend a Court hearing. Andrew has been arrested (a power which ALL constables have) to enable him to be questioned as a procedural matter, governed by the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (called "PACE"). The Police investigating will have gained as much evidence as possible (and obtained the go ahead from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) independent of the Police) to question him under caution (on the record) and then that evidence and his comments will be reviewed by the CPS to decide if there is sufficient evidence to pass the threshold to charge him (ie: go to Court) or not. Obviously this matter will be one of the most scrutinised cases ever to go to the CPS. I know you love to be accurate and I wasn't sure if you were sure on UK police procedures. I hope that helps.
