The Duke of Kent celebrates 89th Birthday

 On the occasion of his 89th birthday, the Duke of Kent was serenadThree pipers from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys) serenaded with Hills of Biggar, Scotland the Brave and, of course, Happy Birthday.

The celebration occurred outside the Duke of Kent's home, Wren House, on the Kensington Palace estate. He was joined by his wife, the Duchess of Kent, who was wrapped in a blue shawl and confined to a wheelchair, his younger son, Lord Nicholas Windsor, and his brother, Prince Michael of Kent.

The Duke, a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, is the oldest working royal.  Between 1955 ND 1971, he was an officer with the Royal Scots Greys (now the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards), based in Hong Kong, Cyprus, and Northern Ireland.

He is also the Deputy Colonel-in-Chief.
