Last weekend, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor competed in the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials.  This was her first time competing in this event.  Her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were not the only people who supported Louise.  She was accompanied by Felix da Silva Clamp, whom she met at St. Andrews' University where she studies English literature.

Lady Louise won the silver medal in the competition.

Lady Louise's love for carriage driving was sparked by her grandfather, Prince Philip, who took up the sport after he gave up polo.  She inherited his carriage after his death.

Felix Robert William da Silva Clamp is 19 years old.  He was born to Jonathan and Kendall Clamp on August 6, 2004, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.  Felix has a younger brother, Cameron Alexander Stuart da Silva, who was born at the same hospital on July 15, 2006.

da Silva is more like a middle name as the births and marriages are registered with one surname, Clamp.

Jonathan Charles William da Silva Clamp was born in Kensington in January 1971, one of three sons of Robert I Clamp and Maria Elsa Pimenta Pereira da Silva, who died on May 24, 2000, after a "courageous fight against respiratory illness."  Her funeral mass was held at The Brompton Oratory in London on May 31, 2000.

Jonathan's engagement to Kendall Anne Searle was announced in The Times on October 2, 1998. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graham Searle, who lived in Knightsbridge, London.   Jonathan's parents lived in South Kensington.

Kendall was born in Australia in 1971.  She and Jonathan were married in Kensington in September 1999. according to the England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1916-2005.

The Clamp family comes from Ashby de Zouch in Leicestershire.

Felix's parents may be separated or divorced as his mother, who uses her maiden name, lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she completed her Ph.D at the Centre for Mental Health at the University of Melbourne.  Kendall Searle has a master's degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Dr. Searle has been a "member of the WHO mental health gap action program since 2007.  Her academic research was in the UK, the USA, and China.

Felix attended the Melbourne Grammar School from 2017 through 2022.  He will receive his degree from St. Andrew's in 2027.  He works at Jannettas Gelateria in St. Andrew's during the school year.

Felix's father is a solicitor.  In 2008, Jonathan was selected to be the Tory candidate for  Lewisham East.  The district had a 9,000 Labour majority.  The election was held in 2010.  Clamp came in third after Labour and the Liberal Democrat candidates.  In the 2022, Wandsworth Council elections, he came in fifth in the Shaftsbury & Queenstown borough elections.  The top three candidates -- all members of the Labour Party -- were elected to the local council.

Earlier this year, Clamp was on the longlist to replace Nickie Allen as the Tory candidate for the Cities of London and Westminster seat.  He was not selected.

A person attending the competition told a reporter that the couple “seemed very comfortable together. They were chatting and looking at each other all the way around. They went for a couple of walks together in between her two events as well, they are clearly very close.”
