King Constantine II and Queen Anne Marie of Greece announced the engagement of their younger daughter, Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark to Matthew Jeremiah Kumar, a Los Angeles lawyer, on November 16, 2018.

The wedding was originally scheduled to take place in Greece in late May 2020.  The Covid pandemic changed the couple's plans.

On May 25, 2020,  Princess Theodora posted a photo of herself and her fiance with these words: "On what should have been our wedding weekend - the love and support from friends and family have been so appreciated. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you in Greece once it’s safe."

In December 2022, the princess' family revealed that the "wedding will take place in early summer 2023 in Porto Heli, Greece.  A month later, on January 10, 2023, King Constantine II died in Athens at 82.

It was noted that Theodora's wedding would again be postponed.  It has been 13 months since the death of the King.  Theodora's most recent Instagram post was on March 10, 2023.  Understandably, the Princess would want to grieve for her adored father who could not escort her down the aisle. Princess Theodora will celebrate her 41st birthday in June.

Perhaps there is another reason for a further delay.   On June 29, 2023,  the Supreme Court of California "issued an order suspending attorney Matthew J. Kumar from the practice of law for one year, with the execution of suspension stayed."  Kumar was placed on probation for one year.

The case "In the matter of Matthew J. Kumar" was brought by the California State Bar.  Kumar was found guilty "of multiple violations related to his handling of client trust (CTA) account funds."   He "allegedly commingled personal and law funds in the CTA," using the funds "to pay personal expenses."

Kumar also failed to "respond to the State Bar's inquiries regarding the disciplinary investigation."

He must comply with the California Supreme Court order with "conditions recommended by the State Bar Court on March 27, 2023.  These conditions include "providing proof of passing Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination.  If Kumar complies with the order, the "suspension stay and probation" will terminate after one year.

Matthew Kumar owns the FarMar Law Group, which specializes in debt collection.

However, today a Greek news site states that the wedding will take place in Athens in the fall of 2024.

From Google translate: "The wait for the couple is coming to an end, as within 2024 they will be able to unite with the sacred bonds of marriage."
