The great-great-granddaughter of King George V and Queen Mary, Ellen Mary Lascelles has announced her engagement to her girlfriend, Channtel McPherson. She made the announcement on her Instagram page.
"On New Year's Day Chan asked me to marry her, and turned what was an incredible 2022, turned into an even more incredible 2023. Two proposals in one day ... plus a cat ring to seal the deal until we get a real engagement ring made. One week later and I'm still floating on a love cloud."
McPherson is the co-owner of Thread & Butter a Ballina NWS design firm.

Ellen's forthcoming marriage will be the first same-sex marriage for a descendant of George V.
She lives in Lennox Head in New South Wales, Australia, with her two children, Jack Marley Hermans (March 21, 2016) and Penny Moon Hermans (March 1, 2018) from a previous relationship with an Australian Michael Hermans.
Ellen, born on December 17, 1984, is the eldest daughter and second of three children of the Hon. Jeremy Lascelles and his first wife, Julie Baylis. Jeremy is the former CEO of Chrysalis Music. He is now one of the Vice Patrons of the Leeds Conservatoire.
He is the youngest of the three sons of the late George, the 7th Earl of Harewood, and his first wife, Marion Stein. The late earl was the elder of two sons of Princess Mary, the only daughter of King George V and Princess Victoria Mary of Teck. In February 1922, Princess Mary married Henry, Viscount Lascelles, heir apparent to 5th Earl of Harewood. He succeeded to the earldom in 1929.
The late Queen Elizabeth II and the late 7th Earl of Harewood were first cousins. Ellen Lascelles and the current Prince of Wales are third cousins.
Lascelles does not use Honourable -- the courtesy title for younger sons of an earl -- and is known as Jeremy Lascelles.
His elder brother. David is the 8th Earl of Harewood.
