King Constantine II of the Hellenes is in an Athens hospital, where he is being treated for pneumonia, according to several news reports.  The original report that he suffered a stroke is incorrect.

Constantine, 81, whose reign lasted from 1964 until 1974, when Greeks voted to abolish the monarchy in a plebiscite. He suffered a stroke several years ago and has been confined to a wheelchair.

The king was taken to the Kranidi Health Center near his home in Porto Heli where medical professionals were able to stabilize his condition, and then transferred by ambulance to a private hospital in Athens, a distance of nearly 100 miles.

According to the linked article, King Constantine II was last seen in public on October 23, when he attended the religious wedding of his youngest child, Prince Philippos to Swiss heiress Nina Flohr, which took place at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens.
