Wedding date announced for the Duke of Noto
HRH the Duke of Noto will marry Lady Charlotte Lindesay-Bethune in Palermo. The couple is currently in Palermo, Sicily, where they met Gianfranco Micciche, the president of Sicily's regional assembly.
The wedding will take place at Palermo's Cathedral in September 2021. The reception will follow at the royal palace.
The couple made an official request to have the wedding in the palace, which was once a residence of the King of the Two-Sicilies. It was also the home of the Bourbons of the Two Sicilies, the wedding reception of a direct descendant of the last King Francesco II and his noble bride."
The Duke of Noto is not a direct descendant of the last king and his wife. Ferdinando [Francesco II] -Alfonso, Count of Caserta - Carlos of Bourbon-Two-Sicilies, Infant of Spain - Infant Don Alfonso, Duke of Calabria -- Infant Don Carlos, Duke of Calabria -Pedro, Duke of Calabria - Jaime, Duke of Noto.
The palace, which is also known as the Palazzo dei Normanni, is the oldest royal residence in Europe. It has been the seat of the Sicilian Regional Assembly since 1946.
Micciche gave the couple a 3D Sculpture of Santa Rosalia and a book about the palace. They were also given a tour of the palace.
In May I broke the news of the Duke of Soto's engagement to Lady Charlotte, the youngest child of the 15th Earl of Lindsay.
