ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that the British Royal Family are less keen than their continental cousins to attend such events.Why is this so?Of course they always have a representative,but that is not really to the point.
The government has a say in the level of representation regarding family connections. This was not a state funeral so lesser representation. If Greece had done the right thing with a state funeral, there were would have been a few royals. Charles went to King Michael's funeral - a state event

ReplyDeleteIt is not normal for the British sovereign to attend other funerals. But there was a bit of criticism because she and Philip were at Balmoral when he died & there was no mention of the queen going to the funeral (the original plan was for Philip to go), but then the government advised that she and Philip should go. It was a one off
