Expect this front page story for Tuesday's Sun. Peter and Autumn Phillips have separated.

Peter Phillips, who is the Princess Royal's elder child, married Canadian-born Autumn Kelly at St.George's Chapel, Windsor, on May 17, 2008.
They have two children, Savannah Anne Kathleen, 9, and 7-year-old Isla Elizabeth. They were living in a house on the Princess Royal's Gatcombe estate.
Peter Phillips was recently in the news for capitalizing on his royal connections by filming a milk commercial in China. It must be stressed that Peter is not royal. His rank comes from his father. He does not carry out official engagements nor receives any funding from the Sovereign Grant.
The Phillips were not present for the Queen's annual Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace, nor were they present on Christmas Day at Sandringham, according to Ken Stone, who also noted that Peter visited the Queen at Sandringham in January without his wife.

The Sun isn’t exactly a reputable paper, is it?
ReplyDeleteThis is sad news
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the Queen. I think she must have a hard time understanding these failed marriage in her family.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the Sun is wrong but this story is now being reported in the broadsheets as well ..
ReplyDeleteThere were comments/reports I the past that the Princess Royal children would be the most "normal" grandchildren of Her Majesty's, but I somehow think that the public and the press are still in their face.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever problems they are having is all of their own, and not of our business as they are "private citizen", but it seems that it will be tabloid material, without being royal, just by association.
I hope they get sorted out quickly and without fuss for their daughter's sake and theirs. And the media will move to some other topic, such as the dress of a royal or the hairdo or the shoes... the stuff that really matters!!!...;-)
I beg to differ. It is true that Peter and Autumn do not carry royal titles but I would not go so far as describing them as "private citizens ". From the beginning they sold their wedding photos to Hello magazine- thus establishing that they would have no problem being featured in magazines such as Hello. Also over the years, they have posed for photographers at various public and private charity events, and just recently Peter did 2 dairy milk TV ads in China...etc
DeleteAll those public "activities" makes them (mostly Peter) fair game in my opinion.
you can beg to differ ...Yes, they sold their wedding to Hello but so do others. They are not royal but Peter has a mother who is a princess. Plenty of people get photographed ... but they were certainly not public officials or royals ... of course, being related to the queen gets you into the papers
