When I got up this morning, while eating breakfast and watching the Today Show, I checked into Twitter and found out I had been suspended for a week due to a tweet that was deemed to be hateful. Excuse me.
Most of my tweets are about royalty or the Washington Nationals, cats, especially Sienna and Harper, Lutheranism and liberal politics. This tweet turned up on my timeline .
Tatum is a police officer in Arizona, well known for his incendiary speech. He had made claims about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar that are not fact-based and he used a doctored video to make his non-factual point. Others pointed out that the video was doctored. There are also tweets similar to my comment.
Hate? Where? It is a statement of fact that the majority of mass shootings are by white men with guns. It is also true that the majority of domestic terrorism cases are by white supremacists. This was recently acknowledged by FBI director Christopher Wray.
Please do not respond with political comments. I wanted my Twitter followers that my voice has been suspended for a week but I have a friend who will tweet out posts for me.
My first appeal was denied. I have sent about a half dozen further appeals with documented evidence of the other poster's hate tweets. I included citations and links to articles that back up my statement and I also cut and pasted other tweets that were similar to mine.
Good on you! How ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteI meant to type someone but it was late ...
ReplyDeleteIf there is anything slightly off about your tweet, it is the use of the term terrorism in relation to mass shootings. The has been over-used as a polemic (left and right, BTW). Most of what has been termed "domestic terrorism" likely has mental health related origin.
ReplyDeleteAppreciate your royal knowledge. Regrettable, the you were in Twitter jail for something nowhere approaching an offensive comment.
You were perfectly right in your comments. Maybe taking a forced Twitter break and not having to deal with the insanity for a week will be energising.
ReplyDeleteTwitter is awful. I'm so glad I left the platform. Sorry this happened to you.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you. However I do think it could be for one of 2 reasons. Firstly I agree with "mcdt" that the word "something" instead of "someone" might be the issue (unless the typo was on this blog and not twitter)? That word stood out to me straight away.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I knew what you meant, but to a computer or a trouble-maker or someone who was easily offended (twitter is full of them), I think that could be a problem. I think that they would read it as someone who follows Islam is not a person?
The second reason it may be, again to a trouble-maker or someone easily offended, is the fact you single out "white men"/"white man". The truth means nothing if it offends a group of society these days.
I suspect one or more people have reported you and a computer has acted as your judge.
All The Best.
something is a typo .. I meant someone .... well less than 22 hours to go
