Easter at Windsor
Queen Elizabeth II attended Easter Service earlier today at St. George's Chapel, Windsor. She was joined by the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice of York, Princess Eugenie of York and her fiance, Jack Brooksbank, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their two children, Lady Louise Windsor and Lord Severn, the Princess Royal, Peter and Autumn Phillips and Zara Tindall. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived after the Queen due to traffic issues.

In the video that I've seen of the Queen arriving at St. George's, her family members are waiting outside and Princess Beatrice and The Princess Royal don't curtsy while everyone else curtsies or bows. Is that a big no-no or is forgetting every once in a while a usual occurrence?
ReplyDeleteKensington Palace declined to comment on the late arrival of Their Royal Highnesses at St. George's Church yesterday. Has the cause of the delay been confirmed officially since or is it assumed that it was due to traffic?
ReplyDeleteBucklebury, where the couple are spending the Easter holidays with Catherine's family, is about an hour's drive away. One would assume they would depart in plenty of time to arrive at Windsor before the queen. It seems quite lese-majeste to arrive after Her Majesty and 'stuck in traffic' seems rather a lame excuse, if true.
Thank you for your informative and reliable blog and twitter account on all things royal. Keep up the good work Marlene. Much appreciated.
Brittany, Anne and Beatruce did not curtsey because they had already seen the Queen that morning. Perhaps joined her for breakfast
ReplyDeleteAnd in the video, heavily pregnant Zara still had the deepest, most graceful curtsey of them all. Bless the Princess Royal for ensuring her daughter had appropriate manners.
ReplyDeleteWhen will we see George and Charlotte at Royal Easter or Christmas? It seems odd that they haven't been seen by now. I realize they were possibly taken to the service thru another entrance, but it seems odd they haven't been in the photo call.

we saw the two at Christmas in 2016 when it was spent with the Middletons. The Cambridges did not bring them to church this Christmas nor on Easter. The Sandringham church is small and I believe just the one entrance (and just one road to it) The kids were probably with their nanny
ReplyDeleteGeorge and Charlotte at 4 and 2 years of age are far too young to have to sit, on their best behaviour, through and hour long Easter ceremony as would be expected of them in the presence of the Queen. None of her other great grandchildren were present at church. James Viscount Severn only started appearing publicly at these events from about 7 or 8 years of age. And he was visibly upset about something or other, for all to see. It is a religious occasion, not a public or royal one as such. William and Catherine, and indeed Peter and Autumn Phillips and Zara and Mike Tindall did the right thing by not exposing their children to public scrutiny, in my opinion.
