Several British news organizations, including the Daily Mail are reporting that British actress Sophie Winkleman, who is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, has been seriously injured in a car crash in Essex.

Sophie, who is styled officially as the Lady Frederick Windsor, is now recovering at London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, having been initially treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.  The accident happened ten days ago.

Lady Frederick, who uses her maiden name for her acting career,  was being driven back to her home after filming an American television series near Saffron Waldon, in Essex.  The 37-year-old actress was involved in a head-on collision that has left her, reportedly, with a "suspected broken back and broken foot."

She was sitting in the back seat in the chauffeur-driven car when another car, trying to avoid hitting a deer, swerved straight into Lady Frederick's car.   Both drivers were also injured.

According to the Daily Mail report,  there were fears that Lady Frederick was "more gravely injured" due to the "horrifically mangled wreckage."

One source told the Mail that "It will be a long road for her, but we're all so thankful that she's been told there won't be any long-term problems."

Lady Frederick was en route home after filming Trust, a new American TV series, directed by Danny Boyle, that is scheduled to premiere on FX in January 2018.  The 10-episode series will focus on the Getty family.  The first season is set in 1973 and focuses on the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III.

The marriage between Lord Frederick Windsor, now 38, and Miss Winkleman took place at the chapel at Hampton Court on September 12, 2009.   Lord Frederick is the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.  Prince Michael, a first cousin of the Queen, is the younger son of the late Prince George Duke of Kent, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark.

Lord and Lady Frederick are the parents of two daughters,  4-year-old Maud, who is in the same class as Prince George of Cambridge, at Thomas's, Battersea, and Isabella, who will celebrate her second birthday in January.

Lord Frederick is a Vice President with J.P. Morgan Private Bank.
