This morning, I went through my Greek royal postcards for images of Frederica. I did not have enough time to go through my Greek photo albums until after work. Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Queen Frederica's birth, here is a selection of images from my collection:
In the first photo with Paul, Frederica and their children there is a strong family resemblance between Paul and his nephew, Prince Phillip.
ReplyDeletePhilip was not Paul's nephew. They were first cousins, as their fathers were brothers.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Marlene! Which is the event in photo number 11? Identities?
ReplyDeletealways get a little confused about the Greeks, three brothers who were all the King. I was thinking Paul was a generation older than he was. Even as I typed "uncle" I was second guessing myself. Thanks.

ReplyDeletethe photo is from Princes Irene's baptism in South Africa. General Smuts is holding Irene. The older woman in front is Princess Marie, wife of Prince George, who is in the backrow
Princess Katherine is next to Frederika
Thank you Marlene!
DeleteThe photos with a young curly-haired Sofia remind me so much of Infanta Leonor at similar ages.
