Hillwood is one of Washington, D.C.'s true treasures, hidden in northwest Washington, overlooking Rock Creek Park. Once the home of cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post, Hillwood is now a museum that honors her life and her important collections in decorative arts (Russian and French), porcelain, art work -- and for royal enthusiasts - Romanov portraits, Faberge eggs ... and the Romanov bridal crown that Princess Alix of Hesse and By Rhine wore when she married Nicholas II of Russia.
I visited Hillwood on Friday with a good friend, author Ilana Miller (The Four Graces). It was a lovely day (apart from the rainy weather.)
I could not use flash inside the house.
