Redux: "with the status of a Princess"

Just an update:   the question of why the duchess of Cambridge is a princess was answered in 1923 by King George V's Private Secretary, Lord Stamfordham https://royalmusingsblogspotcom.blogspot.com/2016/12/redux-when-queen-mother-was-princess.htmlwhen the question was asked about the position of the new Duchess of York (nee the Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon)

Reporters had broached the question to Buckingham Palace, and Lord Stamfordham released this statement:

"In accordance with the settled general rule that a wife takes the status of her husband Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on her marriage has become Her Royal Highness the Duchess of York with the status of a Princess."
