A first flight for the Duchess of Kent

January 5, 1935

The newly married Duchess of Kent "made her first flight today" when she and the Duke flew to Paris en route to Munich to visit her sister, and brother-in-law, Princess Elisabeth and the Count of Toerring Jettenbach.

The couple, who were married in November, were booked as "ordinary passengers," sitting behind the pilot in the Imperial Airways airline.

The other twenty-four passengers  did not know in advance that "they would be traveling with royalty," reported the New York Times.
