But scientists don't know where the break occurred ... perhaps with John of Gaunt not being Edward III's biological son, but even if this were the case, John was born during a marriage, and was recognized as Edward's son. Looking forward to all the speculation about where the possible break in the DNA chain occurred ... let the games begin!

Keep in mind that the "false-paternity event" might have occurred within the Somerset line and not Richard III's. Maybe the 2nd Duke of Beaufort wasn't really the 1st Duke's son, for example, meaning the Somersets aren't male-line descendants of Edward III but Richard III is.
