Baron Axel de Sambucy and Charlotte Paul-Reynaud were married on Saurday in Marrakech. Morocco, where the bride's family have a home.
More than 300 guests attended the wedding, including, the Duchess of Calabria, the Duke and Duchess of Orleans, Prince Michel d’Orleans, Prince and Princess (Duchess of Cadaval) Charles-Philippe d’Orleans, Prince and Princess Charles-Emmanuel de Bourbon-Parme, the Duchess of Segorbe, Prince Peter of Serbia, Grand Duke George of Russia, Prince Francois of Orleans and his fiancé, Theresa von Einseidel, Prince Nicholas of Romania, Prince and Princess Gundakar of Liechtenstein, Prince and Princess Adam Czartoryski y Borbón.
Gran Duke George was one of the groomsmen.
Princess Melekper Toussoun of Egypt, and Prince Mulay Rachid of Morocco came to the reception.
The bride's paternal grandfather was a key political figure in the 1930s – prime minister of France just before World War II, who had been the strongest opponent of conciliation with Germany. His resignation triggered the assumption of power of Petain and Paul Reynaud was interred during the war. Afterwards he returned to politics and was one of the main architects of the constitution of the fifth republic. In his speech the bride’s father, Serge Paul-Reynaud, reminded those present that in 1940 the groom’s grandfather had come to see his father to ask to be allowed to serve in the French to join the army.
The groom is the son of Baron Francois- Xavier de Sambucy and Princess Chantal of France.
