Carol on the throne?
January 6, 1918
A press dispatch from Petrograd states that "there are persistent rumors" regarding King Ferdinand of Romania, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The rumors allude to the Romanian king's abdication in favor of his eldest son, Crown Prince Carol, born in 1893. Since the start of the world war, the
Crown Prince has been "leading a division of his country's forces in the field." Carol is not married, although in 1914, his engagement to Grand Duchess Olga, daughter of former Russian emperor, Nicholas II, had been arranged.
The reports could not be confirmed.
