It is a long and tedious process, but I am putting my vacation snaps (in albums) and making Shutterfly photo books. It takes time, and I only do it when I have coupons for Shutterfly. Scanning photographs takes forever! I tended to shoot on average of 13 or more rolls per trip.
In the last few days, I uploaded vacation photos from my trip to Luxembourg and Germany (Darmstadt, Langenburg, Coburg, Kronberg (staying at Schloss Kronberg as the guest of the owner, the Landgrave of Hesse), Heidelberg, Schloss Wolfsgarten and back to Luxembourg for the flight home via Iceland ... when Icelandair flew to Luxembourg!
This trip was in September 1984. I visited Wolfsgarten the day after Prince Harry was born, and we wet his head with champagne.

I'm new to your blog and am enjoying looking through it. On this post, the pictures were lovely but I REALLY wish that they were labeled. There were some that I very truly wanted to know where/what they were. Beautiful memories, I'm certain.
ReplyDeleteMarlene, these are wonderful photos, you should share them more often. Nice to see an inside glimpse you got of the castles and families. Bea
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bea. Have run out of coupons so won't be making any more books for awhile.
ReplyDeleteMarlene, in the picture of Kraft Hohenlohe and family is the elderly woman Irma Hohenlohe, I remember you mentioned once meeting her and that she carried her purse around. Bea
ReplyDeleteYes, the photo includes Princess Irma. Yes, she did carry her handbag around the house.
ReplyDeleteHOW fascinating. I know this is a probably silly and personal question, but do you speak perfect German?
ReplyDeleteJohn, not well. I can read some things, understand what people say at times, but my grandparents and parents spoke it fluently to each other.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these marvellous pictures. What great memories you have.
ReplyDeleteIn the pics at Langenburg, whose wedding was that? Interesting to see the Queen at a family wedding on the Continent..
ReplyDeleteNorton and Penny, now the earl and countess of Mountbatten .. wedding at Romsey in Hampshire, not on the Continent
ReplyDeleteMarlene, any idea what did Prince Ludwig of Hesse and by Rhine (husband of Margaret, Princess of Hesse and by Rhine) die from? He seemed to have passed on early, as his wife survived him by nearly 30 years.
