King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima paid a brief visit to Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle for tea, one assumes, and a photographer.
I have been to Windsor Castle many times, and there are numerous places for nice shots, but in a living room with a TV set in the background is not one of them, even if the sofa is a family heirloom.
Really. Your Majesty, really!
The only thing missing is a Corgi on the sofa!
A corgi would have made the shot so perfect! I agree, I enjoy the nice informal look, but official shots should have been taken and published. But if I recall correctly, making these informal/private post-accession visits to the British monarch is somewhat traditional. When Wilhelmina was young, she and her mother visited Victoria at Windsor Castle followed by taking tea with the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of York at Marlborough House, where the young Wilhelmina played with the baby Duke of Windsor. Perhaps the Queen wanted the pic to reflect that continued air of informality?
ReplyDeleteanother angle, perhaps, but not with a TV set behind Maxima. Reminds me of family snaps taken at Christmas in the living room.
ReplyDeleteWhat a riot. It looks like they are visiting granny. Do the Windsors and Oranges have a warm friendship?
ReplyDeleteThe pic published by the British Monarchy has the telly cropped out. Interesting...
ReplyDeleteExpress used the cropped one too
