Queen Victoria has melancholia

June 20, 1883

The Truth, a London magazine, has a report about Queen Victoria's mental state.  "The Queen has for two months been in a state of mild melancholia, which in the course of time, if not relieved, would probably become very difficult to treat.  Her condition has naturally caused great anxiety because of the tendencies of her family.  Her Majesty and Princess Beatrice will, in the Autumn, go to the vicinity of Florence, Italy, where they will remain for two months."

The Truth did not elaborate on the tendencies in Victoria's family.
