Former King Manoel of Portugal and his fiancée, Princess Auguste Viktoria of Hohenzollern are "two of the happiest people in London," according to the New York Times.
Manoel, "unfettered by the ties of Kingship," is a young man in love, able to spend all of his time with his fiancée, who is staying at London's Claridge's hotel.
He drives in every morning from Richmond, "bringing beautiful bouquets" to the princess, and they spend time on "happy shopping excursions," unnoticed by others.
They also take time visiting each other in Richmond and London.
