The young man reading is Hon. Adam Russell, a great-grandson of the late prime minister Stanley Baldwin. He is now a deer farmer in Dorset.
Russell has confirmed that he is the person in the photograph, but would not provide further information, or if he had other similar photos.
According to Andrew Morton, Russell “always liked Diana but nothing ever happened, in part because he never expressed his desire for her.”
“After the holiday, he went away for a year and when he came back he was told he had competition: the Prince of Wales,” Morton said Russell thought Diana was "bubbly, giggly, but not in a vacuous way, and lacking in self-confidence."
The Hon. Adam Russell is the brother of Lord Russell of Liverpool. Lord Russell succeeded his grandfather, the 2nd Baron Russell of Liverpool in 1981. Two years later, his two younger brothers, Adam and Daniel, were raised to the rank of a Baron's sons, and his three sisters, were raised to the rank of a Baron's daughters.
The Hon. Adam Mark Haslington Russell was born October 23, 1957. He was the third of six children of Captain Hon. Langley Gordon Haslington Russell, who died in 1975, and Kiloran Margaret Howard, who was the daughter of Sir Arthur Jared Palmer Howard and Lady Leonora Stanley Baldwin, daughter of the 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley.

Lady Leonora's sister, Lady Pamela married Sir Herbert Maurice Huntington-Whiteley, 2nd Bt. Their son, Miles, is married to Countess Victoria Adelheid of Castell-Rüdenhausen, a descendant of Queen Victoria.
