Miss Katherine Elkins has sent a cablegram to the Duke of Abruzzi, "expressing her sympathy for him on the anniversary" of his mother's death, according to a Los Angeles Times dispatch.
The Duke's mother died November 8, 1876.
Miss Elkins is the daughter of Senator Stephen B. Elkins of West Virginia.
