Grand Duke Paul dismissed from army

November 2, 1902

Grand Duke Paul, uncle of Nicholas II, has been dismissed from the army, reports the New York Times.

No reason for the dismissal was given, although the newspaper's source is the Official Messenger.

Grand Duke Paul, a widower, is said to be "a man of liberal ideas."  He is the youngest son of Alexander II.  In 1889, he married Princess Alexandra of Greece, who died in 1891, following the birth of a son, Grand Duke Dimitri.

Grand Duke Paul, 40,  also has a young daughter, Grand Duchess Marie.
