Princely marriage: Cecily of Salm-Salm weds Ludwig Benecke

Princess Cecily of Salm-Salm, youngest daughter of Prince Michael and Princess Philippa of Salm-Salm, married Ludwig Benecke on Saturday.  The couple were married at St. Laurentius Kirche in Wallhausen.   More than 500 guests attended the ecumenical ceremony.  The ceremony was Lutheran, but representatives from the Messianic Jewish community also took part as the groom is a Messianic Jew.  [Messianiac Jews recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah.]

Princess Cecily and her new husband have known each other since they were teenagers.  They have traveled together several times to Israel, and both were for a NGO in Kenya.  The bride wore a "simple champagne dress with a shimmering gold richly embroidered train.:"  Her veil was a family heirloom and had been worn by "many brides before her."

The guests included the bride's maternal grandparents, the Prince and Princess of Castell-Castell and members of the Waldeck und Pyrmont and Schönborn families.

When the newlyweds emerged from the church, they were greeted with a gun salute, which frightened one of the young attendants.  A musical group escorted the wedding back to Schloss Wallhausen, where the reception was held.
