I am not engaged says Prince Arthur

July 11, 1912

Prince Arthur of Connaught, only son of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, has personally authorized "a denial of the report" that he is engaged to Nicholas II's cousin, according to to a special cable to the New York Times.

He also confirms that that he "is not engaged to anybody else."  The "continued rumors of his engagement" to one Princess or another, have caused Prince Arthur "the greatest annoyance."

The reports are so annoying that he has often told friends "that he is not a marrying man."   Prince Arthur is takes his military career very seriously.  Because of his devotion to the military, he was not named as an aide de camp to his father, the Duke of Connaught, when the latter left for Canada.  This was apparently at King George V's request.
